The Religion of Star Wars / Logos. 2014. № 5 (101). P. 131-140
annotation:  This article is a chapter of the book On Religion by John Caputo. The author analyzes the contemporary form of religiosity in Western societies through the example of George Lucas’s Star Wars saga. According to Caputo, these exclusive pieces of popular culture which are based on archetypes and initial cultural narratives are able to become a substitute for bygone forms of traditional religiosity. The author characterizes the Star Wars movie and pieces of work of similar scale as an effective means of remytholizing religious tradition.

How Secular World Became Post-Secular / Logos. 2011. № 3 (82). P. 186-205
annotation:  In this article the author traces the formation of «post-secular» frame of mind through the passing of three stages: sacral period, secularization and desecularization. At the same time it is stressed that this «post-secular» frame of mind is not uncritical or naive. It has arisen as the result of an «iteration» process that by criticizing the critique ends up in a post-critical position, one that is interestingly like but importantly unlike the pre-critical position. The result is the unearthing of a certain analogy between the pre-critical and the post-critical and newly opened lines of communication between them.
Keywords:  secularization, secular, philosophy of religion, Nietzsche, Kierkegaard, desecularization, death of God
